Event From History: Philippine Declaration of Independence

This event happened on June 12, 1898 in the Philippines, when Filipino revolutionary forces under the leadership of General Emilio Aguinaldo (later he became the first Republican President of Philippines) declared the sovereignty and independence of the Philippine Islands. This brought an end to the colonial rule of Spain (when Spain was was overpowered at the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish-American War).
